The North Texas chapter of APICS invites you to a plant tour of the manufacturing facility at the International Grains and Cereal plant in Greenville Texas on March 3rd, 2016.

The International Grains and Cereal (IGC) plant at Greenville was established on September 30, 2013.  Their facility is the former LANCE snack products plant established approximately the mid-1960s.  The 500,000ft facility is located on 37 acres in the Greenville industrial park area.  The plant converts white and yellow corn kernels (corn already separated from the corn husk) into one of 21 yellow and white corn meal products that are shipped all over the world.  IGC produces millions of lbs of corn meal products annually, all based on customer requirements.  Approximately 40% of their production are sold in the United States.   

The basic product made at the IGC plant, P.A.N. was started in Venezuela in 1950 to produce corn flakes for beer production. As corn became a staple product in the local diet a new product was born.  By the end of the 1960s there were 3 plants making corn meal in Venezuela.  During the 1970s there was a significant growth in consumption of corn to 40.7 kilograms per person per year.  In the 1990s P.A.N. flour was exported from Venezuela to the rest of the world.  In the2000s there have been several changes in packaging and launching of more products, including an P.A.N. sweet corn mix.  By 2014 P.A.N. products are being shipped to more than 25 countries

Manufacturing: The technology at the IGC plant is state of the art, but the machines require talented operators and technicians to manufacture the best products in an optimum environment. 

The tour will include an overview of the company and their products, and a walking tour of the raw material receiving through manufacturing and finished products areas.
