Raul Fernandez is Program Manager for Process and Design Engineering at TMAC, offering technology-oriented services to support early-stage / specialized product development and manufacturing needs.

Raul’s expertise is in the fields of automated manufacturing/robotics and electromechanical product design, with significant experience in surgical device development. He has conducted advanced graduate work in high-ordered compressible fluid modeling, dynamic simulation, and helium fluid power systems. He is a Certified Manufacturing Engineer, Black Belt trained in Lean Six Sigma, and US patent holder.

Raul holds degrees Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Bachelor of Science) and the University of Texas at Arlington (Master of Science and Ph.D.). He has been a member of the University of Texas at Arlington's Automation and Robotics Research Institute (now UTARI) and TMAC full-time research staff since 1995 and he also serves as Professor in Practice in UTA’s Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department teaching courses in engineering design.

Raul’s recognitions include Best Paper Award, Engineering and Urology Society –Modeling of Magnetic Tools for Use with Superparamagnetic Particles for Magnetic Stone Extraction, 2011. He was a Finalist for Tech Titans’ Technology Innovator Award, Metroplex Technology Business Council, 2010 and at the University of Texas System Chancellor’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Award – Research and Innovation involving multiple institutions, 2010. Raul received the ARRI Leadership & Innovation Award, 2008. He was the Chair at the Automated Manufacturing and Assembly Technical Community, Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), 2007-2008, and was the Technical Program Co-Chair, 2004-2006 at the SME Automation and Assembly Conference. Raul was also a Member of the Peer Review Council, SME / Robotics International in 2001, the Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society and the Pi Tau Sigma National Mechanical Engineering Honor Society.
